As with other Funbooks, there are punchouts on both covers related to math activities in the book. In addition, Funbook A has a double page of stickers, for even more “hands-on” fun by younger students.
Early childhood teachers told us they preferred not to use the whole FUNbook because it felt too much like a WORKbook. For that reason, we produced “student packets” that contain only the punchouts and stickers and were originally sold as separate packets for student use.
In other words, you may use a complete Funbook for each child OR consider the Funbook a teacher’s guide and photocopy only the pages you want to use. Then distribute the stickers and punchouts as you go along.
A note of interest: Several libraries decided on a third option. They took the Funbook pages to Staples and had them make enlarged pages to use for whole group lessons. Then (if it seemed like a good idea) they gave kids the regular size Funbook page, and the stickers and punchouts to take home, to show parents what they did during the lesson.
